We support the development, review and integration of health, safety and wellbeing strategies. The work is grounded in Dr Brent Halliday’s doctoral and published research into the relationship between organisational context, leadership, engagement, strategy and performance to connect health, safety, wellbeing and human-performance priorities with corporate objectives, governance processes and operational planning. This reduces fragmented initiatives and creates clearer alignment between strategic intent and everyday work.
We help leaders understand performance as an outcome of interactions between people, tasks, tools, systems and operating conditions. Reviews and workshops focus on work as it is actually performed, including adaptation, trade-offs, decision-making and the gap between procedures and operational reality.
This work includes exploring how fatigue, time pressure, interruption, uncertainty, information quality and organisational expectations influence important decisions. The objective is to improve decision conditions—not simply ask individuals to make better choices within poorly designed systems.
We help leaders understand how trust, purpose, participation, communication and organisational credibility affect engagement. The focus is on creating meaningful involvement in strategy and improvement, rather than relying solely on communication campaigns or engagement surveys.
This includes advising on the organisational conditions that can create or amplify psychosocial risk, including excessive demands, low control, role conflict, poor support and inadequate recovery. Recommendations prioritise work and system design while recognising the value of individual support and capability development.
We help organisations learn from successful work, unexpected events, near misses and failures.
Our approach encourages curiosity and constructive inquiry, shifting the focus from individual blame toward understanding the conditions, assumptions and system interactions that shaped an outcome.
We independently review the risks that could materially affect organisational objectives, reputation, people, operations or long-term viability. This includes examining emerging threats, systemic vulnerabilities, competing priorities and risks that may sit between traditional organisational functions.
We advise boards and executives on their oversight of workplace health, safety and wellbeing as strategic organisational issues. This includes governance arrangements, executive accountability, due diligence, performance information and integration with broader business strategy.
We help organisations examine their capacity to anticipate, absorb, respond to and learn from disruption. The work considers governance, operational dependencies, decision-making, adaptability, leadership and the conditions required to sustain reliable performance.
Dr Brent Halliday can work with boards, executives and senior leaders as an independent adviser on risk, safety, wellbeing and human performance. Retained advisory relationships provide continuity, trusted challenge and access to experienced counsel as organisational conditions and priorities evolve.
